Southwark pulls the plug on Elephant & Castle green energy project

18 January 2011: News story on Southwark Council’s intention to to put on hold its plans for a multi-utility services company (MUSCo) to provide heating, cooling, electricity and communications to developments constructed as part of the Elephant & Castle regeneration. Full story here

DECC CHP schemes database

January 2011:Regional search facility which helps provide data on combined heat and power (CHP) plant operating in London. Inclusion on the database by CHP operators is voluntary – hence not all 200 or so schemes reported as being in London are included (200 refers to the aggregate figure identified in DECC’s Energy Trends regional CHP article as being located in London – see September 2010 item below).

Towards zero carbon development in Ealing

September 2010: Towards zero carbon development in Ealing: Energy Evidence Base. This report establishes the rationale and viability of carbon emission saving targets in the borough  and examines measures to promote sustainable design and construction.
Working jointly with the GLA and LDA, the council are also assessing the feasibility of decentralised energy networks within the borough. Phase 1 of this project was completed in May 2010 and encompasses a heat mapping exercise (post at the above link).
