Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) and SAP ratings
February 2011: CLG statistical release on the number of CSH post construction stage certificates and design stage certificates issued up to and including December 2010. Includes regional breakdowns highlighting that most certificates awarded were in London, and also that London scored the highest SAP rating of dwellings built.

Building a Low Carbon Britain
7 Feb 2011: Forum for the Future and ADEPT report launched today which makes five recommendations for how local authorities can prepare their areas and communities for a low carbon future. It presents four scenarios which explore plausible, alternative visions of a low carbon UK. The report states that “Local authorities will have a key role to play in the low carbon economy of the future. This project aimed to help local authorities understand what a low-carbon economy means for them and to find opportunities for low-carbon innovation in a time of public sector cuts.” Press release and report available here.

Southern Housing’s Green Doctors
2 February 2011: Southern Housing Group residents will be trained to provide energy saving hints, tips advice and services to residents in up to 500 of the Group’s homes as part of a scheme aimed at reducing fuel poverty in Hackney. More here.

Mayor’s responses to London Assembly energy and climate change questions
26 January 2011: Questions included funding of the Mayor’s electric vehicle programme; comment by the Mayor on the removal by government of national indicator targets; building energy efficiency standards; funding of the Mayor’s Low Carbon Zone programme; funding of the Mayor’s climate change funding programmes; and Southwark’s Decent Homes programme.

Camden Draft Sustainability Plan
20 January 2011: Responses delivered to Camden’s Draft Sustainability Plan 2010 -2020.
Haringey publishes its first annual carbon report
19 January 2011: Building on the target adopted by Haringey in 2009 to reduce carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2020 (on a 2005 baseline), the borough has now produced a Carbon Report, “the first of its kind to be produced by a local authority”. The report outlines the scale of carbon emissions in the borough and some of the activities the borough will be leading on to reduce emissions. The carbon report – which is to be updated annually – can be downloaded here.
Lowest delivery of Warm Front grants to Londoners
15 January 2011: DECC’s publication of the Warm Front Annual Report for 2009-10 highlights the low level of delivery – the lowest in the country – of the programme’s insulation and heating improvement grants to London. For further information download the DECC report here.
Brent School Energy Project
15 January 2011: Brent Council is funding a pilot Whole School Approach energy saving project in Brent. The Whole School Approach is an educational programme aimed at involving the whole school community including pupils, teachers, site managers, bursars and head teachers to help reduce the carbon footprint of a school. Warm Front Annual Report for 2009-10
January 2011: Highlights the low level of delivery – the lowest in the country – of the Warm Front programme’s insulation and heating improvement grants to London.

DECC release on Home Insulation Levels in Great Britain
January 2011: A relatively new set of what DECC call ‘experimental statistics’ on the number of homes in Great Britain with Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation. Unfortunately not broken down regionally as yet.
